Harry Ruderow Steward passed away at his home on the family farm in Woolwich Township, NJ on March 3, 2018. He was 90.
Harry was predeceased by his wife, Judith Ann Steward (née Moore). Harry is survived by their sons, James (Patricia) of Media, PA; and Jonathan (Robin) of Woolwich Township; and his grandchildren Megan, Christian, Justin, Heather, and Mason. Harry was also predeceased by his parents Samuel Hurff Steward and Anna Emeline Steward (née Duell) as well as his brothers John Milnor Steward and Ira Hurff Steward and his sister Elvira Speakman Schmidt.
Harry was born in Woodbury, NJ and raised in Woolwich Twp., NJ. After graduating from Swedesboro High School, Harry began farming full time. Soon after marrying in 1954, he and Judy moved into the Steward family homestead and took over the family farm where they raised their own family. In 1964, Harry began working shift work at the newly opened Shell Chemical plant in West Deptford Township. The plant was later acquired by the Huntsman Corporation, where Harry retired in 1990. Harry was a member of the Swedesboro Masonic Lodge, Swedesboro Kiwanis Club, Sons of the American Revolution, and Pitman Road Church of Christ. His favorite activity, though, was being a Pop-Pop. He loved taking the kids for tractor rides, dipping ice cream, and entertaining them at Cherrystone Campground where he spent summers for over 30 years.
Visitation Thursday 9am until the service at 11am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 171 Delaware St., Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Pitman Road Church of Christ at 500 Pitman Road in Mantua, NJ.
