On March 27,1931, Birdie Mae Martin was born to Annie Mae and Phil Martin in Greenwood, South Carolina. At an early age, Birdie Mae came to Philadelphia with her parents and attended the public school system. Birdie Mae became a great seamstress and worked for the Garment Workers Union, where she worked until her retirement.
Birdie Mae met the man of her dreams, John Black and married him and became Birdie Mae Black. John preceded Birdie Mae in death on June 25, 2009.
On February 21,2021 Jehovah called Birdie Mae to come home to Paradise.
Birdie Mae leaves to mourn three son's Michael Martin who preceded her in death, Don Martin, and Stephen Black; and her only daughter Nicole Ross whom she loved unconditionally; one daughter-in-law Lavinia Gail Black who preceded Birdie in death; and one son-in-law Johnathan Ross; eleven grandchildren Shanica, Yaquize, Ebony, Stephon & Mika Hicks, Sharina, Sharonn, Aiesha, Zakisa, Steven, Hali, and Quadree; fourteen great grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Birdie Mae also had five sisters Jean, Mildred, Dorothy, and Pearl and Martha preceded her in death; three brothers Frank, Phil Jr. and James who all preceded her death; thirty-five nieces, twenty nephews, special sister Jean Martin, a close and special cousin Rose Shaw and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation Saturday March 6th 11am until the memorial services at 12noon at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ 08096. Memories & condolences shared at daviswagner.com
