Jeanne B. Hagerman

Jeanne B. Hagerman, 94, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on January 6, 2023. Jeanne was born in Parma, NY; she resided in Woodbury before moving to Virginia. She was a teacher and coach in Pitman, NJ and also at Temple University in the 1950s. While raising three children in Woodbury she was an active member of Kemble United Methodist Church as well as a Girl Scout troop leader for many years. Additionally, she contributed to the efforts to make recycling mandatory, enjoyed coaching girls softball, and often helped out at the Gloucester County Historical Society. However, what Jeanne was known for in her later years was her passion for quilts. She was always eager to learn, but just as eager to share her new knowledge and was a well- loved teacher. Her quilts won awards but more than that, they brought so many wonderful friends into her life, both in South Jersey and Virginia, where she lived for the last 14 years. There, she joined the Zion Methodist Church and became an active member of the quilting community which allowed her to participate in other service-related activities.

Jeanne is survived by her children Susan (Thomas) McCaffrey of Roslyn, PA, James (fianc Patti Murphy) of Fredericksburg, VA & Karen (Kevin) Leary of Hillsborough, NJ; sister Judith (Don) Sanderson; brother Richard (Betty) Burnett. She was the beloved Nan-nan to grandchildren Allison, Thomas, Trevor, Ryan, & Christopher and great grandchildren Wyatt, Wade & Waylon. She was predeceased by her brother Roderick Burnett.

Visitation 10am Friday January 13th until the service 12pm at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 171 Delaware Street, Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gloucester County Historical Society at gchsnj.org or Micah Ecumenical Ministries at micahfredericksburg.networkforgood.com.
