Margaret (Peggy) Ann Brown (nee Freese), age 78, of West Deptford, N.J. passed away on August 11, 2017 ) at Inspira Hospital, Woodbury, N.J.
She was born in Kingston, New York on November 8, 1938 to the late H. Edgar Freese and Ruth Shultis Freese. Peggy received her degree in nursing from the Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing, Greenwich, Connecticut, on June 24, 1959. She and her husband, George, lived and worked variously in Denver, Colorado, Houston, Texas, Greenwich, Conn., Scotch Plains, N.J., as well as Libya, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Ingonish, Nova Scotia and Oneonta, N.Y. She last resided in West Deptford, N.J.
Peggy seamlessly meshed her career with raising her family, working at the Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Connecticut in the late 50's; Brega Clinic in Marsa el Brega, Libya in the 70's; Aramco's Saudi Arabian hospital in Dahran in the 80's and Overlook Hospital in N.J. in the 90's. A nurse of infinite compassion and empathy, Peggy specialized in geriatric nursing care as well as that of AIDs patients. During retirement she also owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Cottages in Ingonish, Nova Scotia
She was a member of the D.A.R and a seasoned and adventuresome world traveler, visiting many countries throughout the Middle East and Far East. At the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, New York, she served for ten years, in a volunteer capacity, as Archive Manager, providing invaluable support to the Hall historians in the organization and maintenance of its extensive archives.
Peggy is survived by her beloved husband George Cormack Brown, whom she married on July 2, 1962, and her sister-in-law Margaret Marilyn Brown of Mt. Holly, N.J. , as well as her three children and their spouses: David Alexander Brown (MaryBeth) of West Orange, Sharon Ruth Civile (Michael) of Mantua, N.J and James Cormack Brown (Cecile) of La Ferte sous Jouarre, France. Also her eight grandchildren and one great grandchild: Michael Caleb Civile (Olivia), Nathaniel Joab Civile, Matthew David Civile and Michelle Elizabeth Baldwin(Bryan) ; Emily Joyce Brown, Margaret Joyce Brown and Catherine Joyce Brown; Aidan Emerson Louis George Brown and great grandson Bryce Alexander Baldwin.
There will be a private memorial service.
