Margaret J. Chapman

Margaret J. Chapman (Delaney), RN, age 87, beloved wife of Robert K. Chapman (deceased), passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Marge was born in Atlantic City, NJ on January 15, 1924 to Mary Agnes Haldeman and Lawrence J. Delaney. After graduating from Atlantic City High School in 1941, she attended Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. She married in Nov. 1944, lived in Northfield, NJ for 59 years, and recently moved to Woodbury Mews Independent Living in Woodbury, NJ. Marge graduated from Atlantic Community College's RN program in 1963. Her main interests were her family, friends, home, garden and music. She was a talented and accomplished cellist and played with the Atlantic Community Orchestra and the South Shore Symphony as first cellist for many years, and continued to enjoy playing chamber music with area classical musicians and dear friends.


She is survived by a large and loving and family, including son Robert (wife Gretchen) of Chesapeake City MD and daughter Laurie (husband John Cranston) of Woodbury NJ; granddaughters Gretchen Anderson of Bethel, ME, Jennifer Hudacek of N. Stonington, CT, Joshua Cranston of Thornton, CO and Emily Graziano of Heilsbronn, Germany; and four dear great-grandchildren, Ryan, Annika & Troy Anderson and Sophia Graziano. She is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Lawrence Delaney (wife Fritzi) and William Delaney (wife Mitzi) and was pre-deceased by her oldest brother John (wife Marie). In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as special friends Mildred Rentschler, Ed & Julie Patterson, Marion Westcott, Shirley Firman and Peg Schnarr. Marge will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

The funeral will be held at DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ. on Monday, July 25. Friends and family may call at 10:00 am and services are scheduled for 11:00 am. Burial will be at Laurel Memorial Park in Egg Harbor Township NJ.
