Marjorie Elizabeth Worthington

Marjorie Elizabeth Worthington of Woodbury, NJ passed away peacefully March 17, 2011 at Churchmans Village in Newark, DE surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 26, 1920 in Ilion, NY to Joanna Burrill Fay & Hamilton Lucius Fay. Following one year of nurses' training at Holyoke Nursing School in Holyoke, MA, she followed her heart and in 1940 married her husband, Lester Peirce Worthington Jr. and moved to Woodbury. She was a loving homemaker and mother of four children. She was a lifetime member of the Central Baptist Church, and in her children's early years she was a primary Sunday school teacher. Marjorie was past president of the Junior Women's Club of Woodbury. In her middle years she worked for Dr. Richard Leedy as a clerical receptionist. Her greatest joys in life were found in spending time with her children and their families.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Donald F. (Janet) Worthington of Ontario, Canada, Carol W. (Philip) Keiffer of Newark, DE, Judith W. (Johnny) Mitchum of Snead Ferry, NC & William E. (Marie) Worthington of Mantua; 8 grandchildren, Douglas S. Worthington, Susan M. Perkins, Elizabeth F. Carey, Scott W. Keiffer, William R. Long, William Worthington Jr., Jeffrey & John Worthington; & 5 great grandchildren. Others who will remember her with much love and affection are a great many nieces & nephews, her husband's siblings, Elizabeth Chamberlain of LaConner, WA, Norton Worthington of Woodbury, John Worthington of Foxboro, MA, Cynthia Hatt of Albany, NY, and, additionally, Judith Stewart Worthington of Moorestown. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, & her brother Hamilton Burrill Fay.

Visitation Tuesday 10am until the Service at 12noon at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 171 Delaware Street Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice.
