Donald Rode Sparks

Donald Rode Sparks, 87, of Wenonah, passed away on December 3, 2015. Donald was born and raised in Woodbury before moving to Wenonah where he lived for over 50 years. He was graduated from Woodbury High School, Blair Academy, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture before enlisting in the US Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was the President of Sparks Exhibits, a company founded by his grandfather, for over 35 years. He was Past President of a national trade organization, Exhibit Designers & Producers Association, and Past President of the Wenonah Board of Education. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #192 in Wenonah and a former member of the Corinthian Yacht Club. He loved sailing, was a wooden boat enthusiast, and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many activities.

Donald is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Joann Broadhurst Sparks; 2 sons David P. (Elizabeth) of Woodbury & Donald G. (Annemarie) of Wenonah and 3 grandchildren, Sarah, Theodore, and Thomas. He was predeceased by his parents, William E. Sparks and Helen Rode Sparks, his older brother William E. Sparks, Jr. and his eldest son William B. Sparks.

Visitation Sunday 7 to 9pm at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ and Monday 10am until the services at 11am at the Memorial Presbyterian Church of Wenonah 202 E. Mantua Ave. Wenonah, NJ 08090. Interment Harleigh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Presbyterian Church of Wenonah or Friends Village at Woodstown 1 Friends Dr. Woodstown, NJ 08098.
