Elsie Keller Dahlstrom of West Chester, Pa., passed away on Monday, March 11 at the age 93. Elsie was born in Bloomfield, NJ on September 17, 1930 to Fritz and Emma Keller. She grew up in North Jersey and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1949. Elsie met her husband, Bert Dahlstrom, at Bloomfield High School and they became husband and wife on June 7, 1952.
Elsie and Bert lived in Bloomfield, NJ, where she worked for an ear, nose, and throat doctor. They then moved to Madison, Wisconsin while Bert completed his education. In 1960, they moved to Woodbury, NJ where they lived for 57 years while raising their three daughters, Karin, Bobbie, and Sandy.
Throughout the years in Woodbury, Elsie was busy in the Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday School and participating in their annual bazaar. Her years as a 4-H leader brought her a lot of joy. She worked at the Woodbury election polls, enjoyed playing tennis, and was a member of two Garden Clubs - Woodbury Garden Club and Elmer Garden Club, where she was a Charter member, holding many board positions. Elsie participated in many flower shows bringing home quite a few blue ribbons.
Elsie and Bert enjoyed traveling to their different vacation Time Shares. They started a twenty year tradition of vacationing in Ocean City, NJ with their girls and their families.
In 2017, Elsie moved to Wellington Independent Living Community in West Chester, Pa., after her husband, Bert, passed. She enjoyed her time there meeting people and having fun with the activities she attended.
Elsie has been blessed with her three daughters and their husbands - Karin and Duane Heughan of Jonesborough, TN, Bobbie and Andrew Hrycushko of Montgomery, Texas, and Sandy and Craig Wilcox of Exton, PA. She has nine grown grandchildren and their spouses - Casey Heughan and Matt Swartz, Chris and Meghan Heughan, Jamie Grebe, Brian and Lauren Hrycushko, Eric Hrycushko and William, Wesley, Jessica and Jennifer Wilcox who loved her to the moon and back. She also has 10 great grandchildren - Hailey and Will Grebe, Ava and Audrey Hrycushko, Tanner, Elsie, and Parker Swartz, and Connor, Mackenzie, and Emma Heughan. She is survived by her younger sister, Alice Loeschorn and her sister-in-law Coralyn Dahlstrom.
Visitation and celebration of life service will be on Tuesday, March 19th with visitation at 10:00 and the service at 11:00. at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME, located at 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ. The inurnment will directly follow the service at Eglington Cemetery, located in Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org Memories and condolences may be shared at daviswagner.com.
