Florence E. Meyer

Florence E. Meyer (nee Hillman),75, a lifelong resident of Woodbury, passed away on December 1, 2019. Florence graduated from Woodbury High School in1961, received her bachelors degree from Glassboro State College in 1965, and was a beloved employee at the Woodbury Public Library for over 30 years.
Florence is survived by her husband of 53 years Stephen P. Meyer; son Thomas; daughters Marie (Garrett) Hawkins & Dorothy Meyer; mother Florence E. Hillman (nee Sibbits); sister Grace (Dave) Gabel and grandchildren Anton & Elsa. She was predeceased by her son Michael; father John V. Hillman Sr. and brothers John Jr., Edwin & David Hillman.
Born on Christmas Eve 1943, at home at 150 Franklin Street, she was married in the same house on New Years Eve 1965.
As an exemplary Army wife, she lived in Germany, South Carolina and Virginia, and on the Woodbury home front while her husband was in Viet Nam and Korea.
She was totally devoted to her four children, born in four states, and adored her two grandchildren. She loved all animals, and especially cherished the many she had as pets.
She volunteered as church librarian for nearly 40 years and coordinated the Woodbury Public Library Evening Book Group for 20 years. She served on the WHS Class of 61 50th year reunion committee and helped prepare the 50th anniversary yearbook. She was an avid reader and a fond follower of the performing arts.
Visitation Friday December 6 from 7 to 9pm and Saturday December 7 from 10am until the service at 11am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL HOME 171 Delaware St. Woodbury, NJ.
