September 21, 1949 — November 16, 2024

West Deptford

Harvey S. Karpo, DPM, FACPM, 75, of West Deptford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on November 16, 2024. Harvey was born in Philadelphia and had resided in West Deptford since 1983. He was a Podiatrist in Woodbury, NJ for nearly 50 years, was an active member and Past President of the NJ Podiatric Medical Society, as well as Chairperson for Southern Division for many years. For 17 years he was Registration Chairman for the Region 3 conference. He served on many various podiatric committees and was a past board member of the American Red Cross. He was also a Gift of Life donor.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 35 years Agnes M. (nee Wilks); daughters Sarah and Rachael, and Rachael's spouse Victoria; dear friends Jean Ennis and Dr. Stephanie Exley; grandchildren Jonathan, Liam, Harleigh, Michaela & Axel; his grandniece Taylor; his beloved dogs Rosie, Violet, Petunia, Lily and the late Sofia, granddogs Jackson, Mia, Roscoe, and Charlee. Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Sylvia; brothers Joel & Alvin Karpo; and his former spouse Nancy Groark.

His office was unique in the way that patients saw him for more than podiatric treatment. Every one of them became a member of the extended family, sharing life stories, laughter, sorrows, and even the joy of Dr. Karpo’s beloved dogs. There was no time limit for each patient, everyone was treated with compassion and respect by this one-of-a-kind doctor who never let today’s rushed healthcare atmosphere affect his practice.

Harvey was a warm and positive presence in the lives of so many. He was a lover of life, his family and friends, animals, music, and of course his patients. Harvey woke up grateful every day and would make every interaction with the people in his path one of laughter and kindness. He was a blessing in our lives, a man loved, admired, and respected. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Some of Harvey’s philosophies of life: "I go to sleep happy and wake up happy.” “I woke up today.” “Every day is my birthday."
