John L. Weatherby

John L. Weatherby, 20, a lifetime resident of Woodbury, passed away on November 26, 2017. John was studying for his master plumbers license at Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT) and worked for Geoff Evans Plumbing. John was the co-owner, with his sister Leah, of Treasured Memories Antiques. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America (West Deptford Troop 9) John earned the Arrow of Light (highest rank in Cub Scouting) and continued on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout (Eagle project Woodbury Little League Complex Refrubishment). John was a member of Venture Crew 1, a National Leadership Training staff member and an Order of the Arrow brotherhood member of Lenape Lodge 8, where he served as a lodge officer. While in the OA he attended the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) at Michigan State University, the Jamboree at Bechtel Summit in West Virginia and was selected to attend the National Leadership Seminar (NLS).
John was an avid Angler who had a YouTube Channel (J-Dub Fishing), worked with Development & Testing Pro Staff Lead with Doomsday Tackle Company, was Pro Staff for Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO) and volunteered with 'Hooked on Fishing Not Drugs' kids program.
John was a member of Eagle Point Gun Club & Jons N Ponds Bass Club. He was awarded the Good Citizenship Award from the Union League of Philadelphia and was very active in the community.
John attended West End Elementary School and graduated from Woodbury High School, received the Presidents Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the Parent Teacher Student Association award for outstanding leadership and service to school and community. John was also chosen to receive The Hoffman, DiMuzio Community Service Scholarship Award for performing over 1,000 hours of community service.
John loved sports, was part of the Woodbury Little League, Woodbury Soccer Club and played baseball and soccer for Woodbury High School. He was also a coach for the Washington Township Little League.
John is survived by his parents Lee & Jacki Weatherby of Woodbury; sister Leah Jane Weatherby of Woodbury; grandparents Jack & Ida Otten of Gibbstown and several aunts, uncles, cousins & many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Jack & Eleanor Weatherby.
Visitation Saturday 11:30am until the service at 1:30pm at the Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church 19 S. Broad Street Woodbury, NJ under the direction of DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
