Sarah J. Hart

March 27, 1942 — March 31, 2022

Sarah J. Hart (nee Simpson), 80, of Woodbury Heights, passed away on March 31, 2022. Sarah was born in Wilmington, N.C., raised in Philadelphia, Pa, and has resided in Woodbury Heights for the past 55 years. Sarah was a single mother of two adult children and the grandmother of three (3). She has an Associate degree in Liberal Arts from Gloucester County College and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Glassboro State College now known as Rowan University. Sarah is a licensed social worker with a Masters degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. She has worked in various Social Work positions for the County and the Gloucester County Board of Social Services for twenty-one (21+) years. She retired as an Administrative Supervisor of Social Work at the Gloucester County Board of Social Services.
Sarah was involved with various boards, commissions, and organizations prior to her retirement. She was a member in the Shady Tree Commission, the Special Services School District, the Commission on Women, the Coalition of 100 Black Women, the National Association of Social Workers, and the United Way Membership Committee. She also served on the Gloucester County Library Commission and the United Way Allocations Committee. However, her beloved passion was to take her casino trips to Atlantic City, Chester, and Dover Downs.
Sarah is survived by her son Stephen O. Hart of Woodbury Heights, daughter Stacey Hart and her spouse Roseanne Ghazarian of Wayne, PA; sisters Dolores (Gregory) Davis of Philadelphia, Vernell Deloach of Dover, DE & Bettie Toney of Paterson, NJ; 3 grandchildren Stephen A. (Vanessa) Hart, Samuel H. Hart & Sarah J. Hart and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her father and step-mother, John Vernon Simpson (Annie Elizabeth Simpson); mother, Hattie Simpson; sister, Alva Sutton; and brother, John Simpson.
Visitation 10am Friday April 8th until the memorial service at 11am at the DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES 171 Delaware Street Woodbury, NJ 08096. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way. Memories and condolences can be shared at daviswagner.com.
